Report on the visit to Volgograd at the first public exhibition of the scale modeling and military historical miniatures.

The first public exhibition of the scale modeling and military historical miniatures, dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the defeat of the Nazi forces at Stalingrad took place in the premises of the Volgograd Regional History Museum from 1 to 3 February 2013.

Our delegation consisting of Yuriy Korolko and Andrew Zinchuk flew to the exhibition in the evening on February 1. Our flight departed almost on time (20 minutes does not count!) and arrived at the airport Gumrak  around 21.00. We were met chairperson  club of scale modeling "Stalingrad front" Vladimir Osipov, and one of its members Maxim Levinson.

Hotel we had booked in advance and the guys offered to go on Mamaev Kurgan. But we, citing exhaustion from the road and wish to dine, have refused. Then regretted it ...

To the city from the airport, about 20 km, the conversations broke away unnoticed. Our hotel is located on the banks of the Volga River, not far from the city center. We accommodated without problems, and leaving things, went to the nearest store to buy something for dinner. I must say that the price of food and alcohol are not much different from Moscow! However, all necessary has been purchased and we returned to the hotel where he continued to communicate. The topic of conversation was the opening of the exhibition, which we did not get and the upcoming celebration of the Victory in the Battle of Stalingrad. The time for talk has passed quickly and we went to sleep in the second hour of the night!

Woke up in the morning, had breakfast and by 9.00 were in a museum. Premises where an exhibition on the first floor, spacious and not name, as subsequent events showed, for an exhibition of this scale was small. With the help of the organizers of the exhibition, we quickly and easily put their exhibit on the shelves glazed windows. Tags for our models were prefabricated by the organizers.

At the exhibition we have brought the following work:

  • Su-2, Ki-27b, Ki-67 Hiryu, G4M Betty all in scale 1:72 by Yuriy Korolko;
  • BMD-1, LAV-A2 in scale 1:35 by Yuriy Sedov;
  • Pz.VG Panter , Stuart M3A4, Soviet Marines (1943), 3 figures, the Soviet machine gunner (1941), the Soviet officer-tank, German soldiers (7 figures), all in scale 1:35 by Sergey Vanin;
  •  Panzer VI Tiger, Valentine, T-34- 85, D-5, T-34-76, Sd.Kfz.222, La-7, Hunter Mk.6, Yak-36 all in scale 1:72 by Andrew Zinchuk.

Unfortunately we have to bring more items failed because of stringent air carrier to the size and weight of carry-on luggage.

At 11.00 in the central square was to be held in Volgograd military parade marking the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the Battle of Stalingrad and we, accompanied by members of the club "Stalingrad front" moved in this direction. Unfortunately all the approaches to the site of the parade were blocked by police. All we had to take a picture on the background of military equipment and to return to the museum. When he returned, we were pleasantly surprised by the number of visitors. People were very much. Because the exhibition allowed only without clothes in the wardrobe formed "plug." People were almost discontinuous flow with their families. Interest in the exhibition at the residents of the city was very big. According to our estimates February 2 visited the exhibition at least 4000 people!

Due to the very large number of visitors is in a room designated for the exhibition was not very comfortable and the organizers kindly offered us a tour of the city center and the river Volga. We gladly accepted. The walk took just over an hour and was very interesting. The guys showed us where the main battles in the final stage of the Battle of Stalingrad, which was captured by the army commander of the Wehrmacht 6, Friedrich Paulus, we were able to enjoy the beautiful views, views from the waterfront. Were also buy souvenirs from Volgograd.

Evening chat with the exhibitors continued in one of the restaurants in town. The next day the exhibition organizers gave us a tour of the Mamaev Kurgan and the panorama of the Battle of Stalingrad. Here we wished he visited Mamaev Kurgan the day of arrival! The whole city was enveloped in a dense fog and rather seeing the sights of Mamaev Kurgan was severely strained. However, for more than two hours, accompanied by Roman Sarychev and Maxim Levinson, we saw all that we had proposed.

Well summarize ceremony of the exhibition-competition began at 16.00. So show in figures:
